Mark Dunayer, DMD

Dr. Dunayer received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in 1985. While attending dental school he participated in an “externship” in implants at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn. After graduating dental school in 1986, he participated in a one year residency at a dental practice run by the University of Pennsylvania treating the faculty and staff. As chief resident, his emphasis was cosmetic dentistry and tooth reconstruction. In 1988 he had the opportunity to open B & D Excellence in Nanuet, New York, where he practiced for 20 years. He recently moved his office to West Nyack where he continues to provide his patients with esthetic and restorative expertise that is financially affordable without having to travel into Manhattan.

The focus of the practice is the health of every patient’s smile. Dr. Dunayer believes that cosmetic and implant dentistry can significantly increase the long term health, function and appearance of his patient’s smiles and he has been giving his patients the extraordinary benefits of cosmetic dentistry since 1995. In addition to the experience he has from creating beautiful smiles for so many of his patients, he has hundreds of hours of training with some of the best doctors in cosmetic dentistry. This includes advanced training in laser gum tissue contouring, smile design and tooth replacement, as well as participation in an intensive hands-on program instructed by Dr. Larry Rosenthal, an internationally renowned cosmetic dentist. He has also taken advanced courses in cosmetic dentistry at the renowned Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies where Dr. Bill Dickerson introduced him to the health and esthetic values of using composite (white) restorations instead of metal. Additionally, he has over 300 hours of advanced training in implant dentistry enabling him to create implant restorations that mimic the look of a natural tooth for patients with missing teeth.

Dr. Dunayer has Advanced Endodontics (root canal) training as well, enabling him to give his patients state-of-the-art electronic treatment that is more precise and efficient so patients can avoid many of the discomforts of the past.

Dr. Dunayer was one of the first dentists in New York to be certified in oral conscious sedation dentistry in an effort to help the many patients whose fear of the dentist prevents them from seeking dental treatment. Dr. Dunayer believes that, “With sedation, you can completely relax during your treatment so you can have that beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.”

Most recently, he completed extensive training in the use of Invisalign, an easy, clear, removable solution for straightening teeth. Due to his level of experience, training and successful case results he has been designated by Invisalign as a Preferred Provider.

Dr. Dunayer is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ninth District Dental Society, DOCS (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation), as well as a General Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Through his membership in these professional organizations, his participation in a monthly study group and by taking several hours of continuing education courses a year he is able to keep up-to-date with the art and science of modern dentistry.

Dr. Dunayer and his wife Cheryl have two sons, Glen and Ross, and a very loving dog, Crater.
